About the Programme|

The Master of Science (MSc) programme in Pure Mathematics is intended to produce graduates whose areas of specialization are broad enough to carry out research, participate in national and executive arms of public and private enterprises. For these reasons, graduates of the Master of Science programme are highly regarded, by a wide range of employers, for their analytical, problem-solving and communication skills as much as for their knowledge of mathematics.

Admission Requirements

  • Common regulations for the Master degree in Maseno University and School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science shall apply.
  • Candidates must have taken Mathematics as a major subject in their Bachelor’s degree.
  • Holders of a Bachelor’s degree of Maseno University in Mathematical Science, Mathematics and Computer Science, Mathematics and Economics or Mathematics and Business Studies, of at least Upper Second Class Honours, or equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by the Senate.
  • Holders of a Bachelor’s degree of Maseno University in Mathematical Science, Mathematics and Computer Science, Mathematics and Economics or Mathematics and Business Studies, of Lower Second Class Honours, or an equivalent qualification from another institution recognized by Senate. In addition, a candidate must have at least two years relevant work experience.

 

Admission requirements

In addition to the common Maseno University admission regulations for Doctor of Philosophy programmes, a candidate for a PhD in Applied Mathematics shall be a holder of Master’s degree in Pure Mathematics from Maseno University or from a recognised University. Candidates having a Master’s degree in Mathematical Sciences may also be considered.

  • In addition to the common Maseno University admission regulations for Doctor of Philosophy programmes, a candidate for a PhD in Applied Mathematics shall be a holder of Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics from Maseno University or from a recognised University. Candidates having a Master’s degree in Mathematical Sciences may also be considered.
